Situation Mapping

Sometimes it can be helpful to slow down and intentionally map out what is happening when. Do this exercise when all the participants are calm (including the facilitator) and it can be done 1:1 or in a group. When working on this it’s really important to acknowledge the student or youth’s feelings in addition to helping them make a guess about what someone else is thinking. Here are a couple resources:

Sometimes talking through a situation isn’t a good fit and you might try making a comic or using toys to role play a situation instead.
